Siwar Masannat

Siwar Masannat is a Jordanian writer. Since 2011, they have taken on various professional roles as a university instructor, literary editor, occasional freelance translator, and arts administrator. Siwar holds a PhD in English from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where her research focused on transnational literature and women’s and gender studies. 50 Water Dreams, their debut collection of poetry, was selected by Ilya Kaminsky as the winner of the CSU Poetry Center’s First Book Competition and published in 2015. Siwar’s writing most recently appeared in Fence, Under a Warm Green Linden, Black Warrior Review, and Lana Turner: A Journal of Poetry and Opinion, among others.
